Cosmetics and Aesthetics: Head and Neck
Facelift and Necklift
A facelift and necklift can effectively restore a youthful, vibrant appearance by addressing and reversing common signs of aging along the cheeks, jawline and neckline. Dr. McCann performs deep-plane face and necklift, which is considered the gold-standard amongst experts for this type of procedure. With these procedures, lax tissues of the face and neck are mobilized and re-suspended to rejuvenate the face and neck, resulting in a long-lasting, naturally youthful look. Both men and women can be candidates for these procedures based on their specific concerns and cosmetic goals.

Browlift
Weakening of forehead musculature and excess laxity of forehead and brow tissues happens to everyone, and oftentimes creates a tired or angry-looking appearance. A browlift works to counteract these undesired changes. Dr. McCann will choose one of three commonly used techniques for your brow lift. His choice will be dictated by your goals and individual physical characteristics, among other considerations. This can sometimes be done with hairline advancement.

Hair Restoration
Alongside our skilled technicians, we perform both Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT, AKA 'strip' procedure) for hair loss in select patients. A detailed discussion about your personal goals, medical history, and each transplantation method is vital to achieving your desired results. Non-surgical options such as topical medications and injections are also available at Ad Astra. These procedures are most often done in a clinic setting with local numbing medication.

Facial Implants
Facial implants are used as an alternative to injectable fillers and are a more permanent solution for contour irregularities or deficiencies in various areas of the face. These are most often used around the chin (genioplasty), temple areas or cheeks. Some implants can be done in either a clinic or outpatient surgery setting.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is an effective tool for a wide variety of undesirable skin conditions, including fine lines, pigment changes, sunspots, certain types of scars, and more. With the cutting-edge technology of the HELIX laser by DEKA, we can offer tailored treatments for skin resurfacing and skin tightening, including:
-
CoolPeel™ is an advanced fractional CO2 ablative therapy that gently removes the epidermis, resurfaces skin irregularities, and heats the dermis to stimulate collagen production.
-
Sultra is a non-ablative light treatment for surface-level refinement and collagen production.
-
FUSION harnesses the power of CoolPeel™ and Sultra for precise tightening, resurfacing, and refining.

Liposuction
Neck liposuction is a technique that removes excess fatty tissue beneath the chin (aka submental liposuction). It is indicated as a standalone procedure in select patients, but is often combined with other cosmetic procedures such as chin implants/genioplasty, or face and necklift. Submental liposuction can be done in either the clinic or operating room.

Injectables
We can provide services for all of your injectable aesthetic needs, including neuromodulators (Botox and Dysport) for dynamic wrinkles, as well as a variety of injectable fillers for any contour or volume concerns you may have. Choosing the correct injectable product is a nuanced decision making process between you and Dr. McCann- come see us to develop a plan that is specific to your needs.

Gender Affirmation/Facial Feminization
We offer a variety of procedures for select adult patients desiring facial feminization, including: forehead and hairline contouring, browlift and blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty for facial feminization, chin reduction and jaw augmentation, and chondrolaryngoplasty (Adam's apple reduction). Often this process requires more than one surgery based on an individual patient's needs. Patients requesting these services need to meet criteria to be eligible for surgery, including a diagnosis of gender dysphoria or related, and have a primary care provider coordinating their gender affirmation care.
